College Ministry is important because . . .

Ministry to, with, and for college students can be one of the most difficult and yet rewarding areas of ministry within the church. It is a very important ministry because it is a time when many decisions and choices are made that can affect the rest of their lives--decisions regarding careers, relationships, geographical locations and their own spiritual development.

College Ministry can happen at Broad Street because . . .

Broad Street has a unique opportunity to minister to college students in a variety of ways. We have college students who “grew up” at Broad Street and are away at college, and we have students who also “grew up” at Broad Street and are commuting to colleges in the area. We also have students who “grew up” other places, but are presently attending Lee University. There are approximately 50 United Methodist Students enrolled at Lee University.

College Ministry happens in a variety of ways by...

• providing a college Sunday School Class
• keeping in touch with college students who are away
• offering special holiday brunches
• sending cookies to first year students
• supporting Wesley Foundations throughout the
       conference and particularly at UTC
• offering ways for local college students to minister and volunteer through Broad Street, such as at Unity Center and summer internships
