Broad Street has an active Adult Ministry that is open for members and non-members alike. A list of upcoming events is in The Messenger each week and is also posted on the bulletin board across from Triplett Hall.

Summer Lunch Bunch


Prime-Timers is an inter-denominational travel group led by Jackie Johnson and Gwen Dethero. A typical month finds the group taking one or two day-trips. These trips might be to a theater, museum, IMAX, aquarium, gardens, house tours, or shopping. Lunch is almost always a part of each trip. Special events are planned for Christmas and New Year's, and we usually schedule at least one overnight trip during the year. The cost per person depends on the trip. Reservations and payments are usually required prior to the trips.

Prime-Timers Departing for a Day Trip

Jubilation is an annual two-day event for senior adults, held in Gatlinburg. It's a time of fun, fellowship, classes, worship opportunities, Bible study, and exercise. Reservations are required.

Lunch Bunch, led by Mary Ketchersid and Chrissy Gray, meets in the church parlor at 11:15 am on Wednesdays, September through May. A delicious meal is served for a cost of $6; meal reservations are required. Following lunch is a book study.

Valentine's Day - Lunch Bunch

Summer Lunch Bunch, led by Gwen Dethero, Chrissy Gray, and Jackie Johnson, meets in the church parlor at 11:15am on Wednesdays, beginning the latter part of May through August. The cost for lunch is $6; meal reservations are required. Programming for Summer Lunch Bunch is of a lighter nature.

July 4 Celebration - Summer Lunch Bunch

FRINS (Fellowship, Recreation, Inspiration, Non-denominational, Service) is an interdenominational group led by Carolyn Jackson. FRINS meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, September through May, in Triplett Hall. There is lots of fun and fellowship, crafts, music, greeting cards, and other activities, followed by lunch. Members of FRINS are asked to bring a covered-dish or to make a small donation for the meal.

FRINS Sends Letters of Encouragement

Summer FRINS, led by Gwen Dethero and Jackie Johnson, meets on the second and fourth Thursday of July through August. They will also meet the fourth Thursday in June. Bingo and door prizes are favorite activities for Summer FRINS. Members of FRINS are asked to bring a sack lunch or a dish to share.

Adult Council is a committee of chairpersons of various groups, Sunday School class presidents, and at-large members. The Adult Council meets three times a year for planning. Anyone is welcome to attend this meeting.

"Over 80 Club" Luncheon is an annual event held in April. It is a time to celebrate and honor our adults 80 years old and above. At the luncheon, there is an induction of those turning 80 during that calendar year. Families and friends are invited to attend. Lunch is free to those over 80. RSVP is required.

New Year's Eve at Noon is a time for fun, games, lunch, music, hats, horns, and spiritual time as we bring in the new year together. RSVP is required.

Adult Rally is an annual event for adult Sunday School classes. We meet in Triplett Hall for a light breakfast, fun, and fellowship. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know others in our church.

Mission Trips - Broad Street plans for two mission trips each year. These trips are led by Dr. Bill & Jackie Johnson. Preparation for these trips includes packing and labeling pills, packing Bible School supplies, or working on other projects. If interested in helping in this area, call the church office, 476-5586, for the schedule.
